No More Blue and Orange!

Wow, a whole three weeks missed already, huh?  I knew that a twice weekly schedule was going to be overly optimistic.  Ah well, let's get back into the swing of things with an easy Wednesday Rambling!  Today's Ramble will be a short blurb about how designers appear to be color-blind. 😋

Dear White People: No, It's Not "Equality" for You to Use the N- Word

There's an issue that crops up every once in awhile among the more "defensively" racist (by which I mean those racists who know that racism, as a concept, is wrong, but who still want to say racist things without being accused of being racist), and I seem to be seeing it more frequently since we got a uniformly Republican administration (to quote Bill Maher: "I always say not every Republican is a racist, but if you're racist and looking for a party...").  I'm talking about certain white people's attempt to justify their use of the N- word as "equalist", while -- wait for it -- accusing black people who object to their use of that word as the "real racists".  Their logic goes thusly: "If black people can use the N- word to describe each other, I can too!  And anyone who accuses me of racism for doing so is the real racist, because they're only picking on white people saying it."

On the Practicality of Women's Dress Designs

Today's Wednesday Ramblings will be a rant.  About fashion.  Because dammit, all I want is a stupid cute black dress that I can put on my damn self.  Is that so much to ask?!

Proof vs. Evidence

Proof and evidence.  These are very important terms for any debate.  But what got me thinking about them recently was, not a debate, but an article I can't even actually remember.  It had something to do with astronomy, something educational... and it was presented in a Question-and-Answer format.  What I remember about it is one of the questions, "Are there intelligent aliens out there?"  The answer given was "There is no proof of aliens".

Something about that simple line just bugged me, and after a bit of turning it over in my head, I realized what it was: the misuse of the term "proof", when the term that should have been used was "evidence".  Thinking further about it, I realized that this was not just a problem from this particular article -- this is something that happens a LOT in debates, and religious ones in particular.

Hello, World!

Ah, the dreaded first post.  What do I start with?  Do I dive right in with a 5000-word essay on how feminism and transgender ideology are fundamentally at odds?  Do I write a thesis on how the right of a woman to an abortion mirrors the rights of everyone, man or woman, to control their own bodies and lives?  Do I go on a liberal rant about Cheeto Voldemort, our pathological liar-in-chief?  Or do I just write a simple intro post introducing myself?  Oh the dilemma!

Oh wait, there's no dilemma.  I haven't written any of the serious stuff yet.  ðŸ˜‹  Okay, intro post it is!
